Odd Mushromance

6th Chapter

The next day, Toadshrine sits alone in his living room.  Perhaps this is karma finally getting the better of me. he thought.  I tried to make the one girl I want to be mine my girl, and then I get schooled by the competition.  And by means of divine punishment, it gets put on tape by a toddler on Mushroom Kingdom's Funniest Home Videos.  And to make matters worse, my foolish desires get my winges 'clipped' and sick time had to be wasted.  Life can't get any worse.
Toadshrine decides to put his feet up, and he notices the tear-shaped crystal that Ruby had made for him.  He picks up the crystal and looks at the liquid inside and is awestruck.  Toadshrine didn't know why, but he felt like taking a bath, and so he did.  Toadshrine ran his water in the tub and set it up just as he would if he and Toadette were taking a joint bath together.

I can't believe that this thing looks so real. Toadshrine thought.  It's a shame that I'll be bthing all by myself...  Maybe a nice bath will take my woes away.  Perhaps it'll be just what the doctor ordered.  Unintentionally, Toadshrine tosses the crystal in his bath water, which oddly enough, made more bubbles.  Either way, Toadshrine stripped down and got in.  Meanwhile, Toadette was still down about the whole ordeal.  "Man, this still feels sour...  Maybe I should go and visit." she said.
"Man, this really has put a number on you." Toad says as he approaches Toadette.
"I normally don't feel this bad, but I can't help it." Toadette says.
"You were involved in it, so that makes sense."
"Child, you need to forget all about that poppycock." Toadsworth told Toadette.  "By now, Toadshrine is probably forgotten all about this mess."
"Not really," Toadette disagrees, "from what Mush said, Toadshrine and Jolene are working on a legal settlement."
"Arbitration, what a lovely legal tool." Toad said with a yawn.
"Toadshrine might sue for everything Jolene has, and that means the possible shut down of the Glitz Pit, putting Mush and Jolene out of a job."
"Hmm, I never thought of it that way." Toad said.
"Please." Toadette said  with a flick of her wrist.  "Toadshrine wouldn't do that."
"He might... granted of course you would give him a nice bargaining chip, as a means to reconsider." Toadsworth disagrees.
"Toadshrine isn't cold hearted.  And even if Mush got fired from the Glitz Pit, he would take his fights to the Island Wrestling Federation."
"That would be cool to see him and some of the other IWF wrestlers throw down." Toad said.

"I bet he'll drop the lawsuit if you sleep with him, girl." Toadsworth said coyly.
"I'm not sleeping with Toadshrine, nor would I, even if it were to save the Glitz Pit fighters." Toadette said.
"Yeah, she hasn't even slept with Mush yet." Toad jokes.
"Hey..." Toadette trails off.
"Figures." Toadsworth chimes.  "You can't blame Toadette for dick teasing Mush in their LDR."
Toadette is officially peeved at this point.  "I have slept with Mush a few times, but I haven't put out yet." she says.
"I'll say." Toadsworth adds. "Neither one of you is floating in the air, or has started singing I'm Walking on Sunshine yet."
Toadette slaps her forehead as Toad holds his laughter in, but has a big grin on his face.

Toadshrine was not out of the tub and was letting the water drain.  "Well, that felt a little better." he said to himself.  He then looked at his reflection in the mirror.  It was at this time when he noticed it; light red outlines, barely visible, and they were in the shape of his wings.  Toadshrine didn't quite understand if he was seeing things or not, nut didn't pay it much notice.  and all too soon, the outlines faded away.
