Toadshrine meanwhile, finally decided to get out and take some fresh air. He wasn't the kind of guy who would take a 'pleasant stroll', but it kept him from becoming lethargic. "This actually is doing me good, I'm feeling better now." Today seemed like things were finally going his way, and Toadshrine was 'going to make it' per say. But what he didn't know is that Batt T was watching him from a distance. I don't know why I should be keeping an eye on him, but this gut feeling just tells me so. she thought. Batt T has actually had Toadshrine grow on him, and not for the obvious reason. The truth is, Toadshrine is the only guy that would actually give her a chance. Maybe she was developing feelings for him? Perhaps she has a crush on him and won't admit it? Could she just want Toadshrine as a boy toy? Regardless of the reason, Batt T was interested in him.
So she kept her distance, a distance to not be able to hear who could converse with Toadshrine, but enought to come in and deal with him if he tried to end his life. And to keep her stealth, she was flying in the air for a good portion of the time. The majority of the walk was just Toadshrine walking from place to place getting groceries; some fresh fruit, chicken breasts, a carton of milk, etc. The basic household needs, including a six pack of toilet paper. With a full bag of groceries, Toadshrine went home, but only briefly as to drop things off, and out the door he went again. "I think a talk with Toad will do me nicely. Friends help make your day better." Toadshrine said to himself and he began to head towards Peach's castle.
The Mushroom Kingdom scene was always an ever-changing sight to behold; each day was different and had lots in store for that particular day. And as always, Toadshrine had his basic routine for getting around. Of course, Batt T was there in the 'wings' to keep an eye on him, but it gave her some piece of mind seeing him happy for a change. Maybe I'm just losing my mind about keeping watch over him. she thought to herself. Toadshrine is just going through a daily routine, I shouldn't be wasting my time with such trivia-
Batt T's thoughts were cut off as Toadshrine turned toward the castle. "Just great, this may end badly..." she trails off. I wonder what Toad is up to. I'm sure Princess Peach won't mind my giving him company. Toadshrine thought as he crossed the bridge to Peach's castle. Batt T had landed in the brush nearby, but was in hearing distance of Toadshrine. "Well, maybe he'll just help out..." Batt T said to herself.
Toadshrine had a smile on his face as he reached for the handle of the castle doors. But to his surprise, the door swung open and there was Toadette. "Toadette, this is a rather nice surprise." Toadshrine said.
"And the surprises keep on coming." Toadette said.
Seconds later, Amness T approached the two, alongside Jolene. Amness T has a look of defeat on his face and Jolene had a coy grin. "And look at that, it's the mushroom I wanted to see." Jolene began. "I've spoken with your legal counsel and things don't look good for you."
"What's all of this about?" Toadshrine asked.
Amness T clears his throat. "Toadshrine..." he began, "Toadette showed me the tape of your incident and... well..."
"It shows you clearly starting a fight with Mush." Jolene cleared up. "It's NOT a shame that this has turned up, however, it kills your case."
Toadshrine's expression turned to a look of horror as the words were told to him. "Amness T and I have agreed that a dismissal of your claim will keep us from dealing out quite the countersuit against you." Jolene continues.
Toadshrine sighs. "I see, well let's sign the paperwork and make the case drop official." he says.
"You misheard." Jolene said. "You have no case, but I have a documented tape of you coming after my client. So you can either sign for dismissal of the ordeal, or we'll see you in court for deformation of character."
"Okay, let's dismiss the ordeal."
Amness T handed the papers connected to a clipboard to Toadshrine and he read them over. The clam-happy smile on Jolene's face was only matched by the wider smile Toadette had on her face. It took five minutes for Toadshrine to read over, sign, and hand the papers back to Amness T. It was done and over. "And with that said, it's time for me to go." Jolene said. "But to show you that there are no hard feelings, here's a ticket to attend the Glitz Pit showing this friday."
"But Friday is tomorrow... and I don't have a way of getting down there." Toadshrine said.
"Oh, that's too bad." Jolene looks over to Toadette. "I will see you this friday, right?" she asks Toadette.
"I already have my all-access pass." Toadette answers.
"Good. Oh and KP Pete and Master Crash were hoping you would bring that famous pie of yours."
"You know what, I think I might."
With this, Jolene walks away, leaving Toadette and Toadshrine to themselves. Toadshrine sighs, "So you showed them the tape, Toadette?" he asked.
"So you showed them the tape, Toadette?" Toadette mocks Toadshrine. "You're damn right I showed them the tape. and as embarrassed as you were for everyone laughing at your stupid ass for this, the tape is evidence for some stupid ploy for a case you never really had!"
"Toadette-" Toadshrint tries to explain.
"You idiot," Toadette cuts him off, "when are you going to learn, Toadshrine? Huh? When are you going to learn?"
"But Toadette, I-"
"Stop talking and use your head! All of this is just madness, and the fact that you tried to act all macho, only to be recorded as the wimp that you realy are, didn't do you any favors. And all of this just so you can have some 'Happily Ever After' with me? I guess you really are stupid."
Toadshrine was holding back his tears. "That's so... so mean..." he trails off.
Toadette approaches Toadshrine. "I'm going to say this one last time, so pay attention." Toadette grabs Toadshrine by his aqua colored vest, like a schoolyard bully grabs the geeky kids before demanding their lunch money. "I don't love you, I WILL NEVER LOVE YOU! Not now, not ever. If we ended up as the last two mushroom people on the planet, the world will belong to the creatures that inhabit it! I am nothing more than someone you associate yourself with!
"Even if Mush were to die in a horrible accident, Heaven forbid, I will find love from some other guy beside you! You didn't have a chance with me, YOU NEVER HAD and NEVER WILL HAVE A CHANVE WITH ME, EVEN AFTER DEATH!" and Toadette finally lets go of Toadshrine.
I... I... Toadshrine couldn't even finish his thoughts before falling to his knees while in tears.
"That's right, cry. Your tears won't even get sympathy from me." Toadette said. "Hopefully now, you will finally understand that I am still the best thing you never had! Now finish your tantrum, and then go home. I don't want to look at you, let alone listen to you, for the rest of the day." and Toadette goes back inside the castle, leaving Toadshrine on all fours with tearsheavily falling from his eyes. Toadette walks towards the stairs of Peach's castle as she heads for the second floor. "That was the most painfully true letdown I've ever heard in my years." Toadsworth told Toadette.
"You told me yourself, Toadworth that you sometimes, when faced with someone who doesn't like to to 'no' for an answer, to force feed 'no' down their throat. they will choke for a little bit, but it'll go down smoothly after they sop trying to make it come back up." Toadette explains. "Toadshrine needed to hear the blunt version of 'no', and for his sake, it better stay in his head this time." and Toadette goes through the door, heading up the stairs leading to the second floor.
I taught that girl a little too well... Toadsworth thought. Oh wait, no I didn't.
Toadshrine was still on all fours crying. He was used to getting rejected by Toadette, and he figured that the "I should try harder" route would get him the pink mushroom girl. But this time was different... this time, Toadette finally broke Toadshrine, and all he could do was cry. Batt T stood there at a distance watching Toadshrine in his moment of misery. She wanted to help him, but chose to watch. I would comfort him, but Toadshrine would no sooner shun me away. she thought. Toadette hads a point of making her rejection clear, but even Toadshrine didn't need to get it this way. Look at those water works, he'll be crying for days because of this now. Man, this pisses me off, though... and when I'm pissed, I--No, no, you're better than that. Ah, I can't take it. I'm gonna lose my mind.
Unsure of what would happen, Batt T approaches Toadshrine, who was on all fours as he continued to cry. "Need a hand?" she asked.
"I.... I.... I...." Toadshrine couldn't even finish, his sorrow had fully overtaken him.
"C'mon, let's go." Batt T extends her hand.
Toadshrine swats Batt T's hand away. "I-if you w-w-want to help me, jus-just-just e-end my suffering."
Batt T shook her head. "Fine, but let's have one last night together."
Toadshrine wipes his tears. "I just want to be..." he catches himself as he looks into Batt T's eyes. She seems so worried about me. Toadshrine thought. I can't make her feel bad over me, but I don't want any company. Fine, one more night to endure things, and then off to the Underwhere. "Okay, one more night..."
"Good, that's all I want." Batt T smiled.
Toadshrine finally got up, only to be hugged by Batt T. Reluctantly, he hugs her back, and then the two walk off. He actualy wanted to be left in solitude, but figures that this last night with Batt T would be his last rites of sorts. Batt T needed something to keep from biting into someone's neck and drinking blood again. And despite knowing that Toadshrine just wants to die, part of her wants to tr and salvage things. Then again, Toadshrine has been the only guy to actually go through an entire date with her.
